Welcome to the AOAPO Newsletter Volume 2, 2025!

Welcome to the latest issue of the AOAPO Newsletter! This edition marks an exciting chapter for AOAPO as we celebrate new leadership and share cutting-edge research in agricultural proteomics.

At our recent council meeting, six members gathered to discuss strategic plans, including the frequency of the AOAPO Congress and potential collaboration with CNAPO, such as joint symposia with reduced registration fees for young scientists.

AOAPO proudly announces its new leadership team: Pingfang Yang (President), Qingsong Lin and Paul A. Haynes (Vice Presidents), Boon Chin Tan (Secretary General), and Setsuko Komatsu (Honorary President). This team will guide AOAPO in empowering young scientists, promoting open science, and strengthening international collaborations.

This issue also features a fascinating research highlight: “Tiny Plant Peptides: Big Helpers Against Climate Stress.” Peptides, tiny protein fragments acting as chemical messengers, enable plants to survive drought, salinity, heat, and physical injury. Excitingly, some peptides are derived from previously “non-coding” DNA regions, opening new possibilities for breeding climate-resilient crops and developing innovative biotechnology tools.

On behalf of the AOAPO Newsletter team, we wish all our members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, filled with joy, health, and scientific discoveries.
